Gulmarg avalanches

G’day all. Many of you may have heard of the two major avalanches that occurred here in Gulmarg yesterday that captured five guided groups injuring several people.  It was extremely lucky that no one died in either of the events.

This is just a quick note to let you know that none of Bill’s Trips guides or guests were involved.

This event was not a surprise due to the existing snow pack conditions. They both occurred in terrain that is currently excluded from our operational area due to the high risk of human triggered avalanches.

There is comprehensive information regarding the current snowpack conditions on www.gulmargsnowsafety.com. We have been managing this risk by skiing excellent powder in low angled and forested terrain.

There is plenty of great riding to be had provided you play it safe.
