Hotham Snow Report

August 11 2014

A light fog which is forecast to burn off, and a moderate southerly blowing this morning.

After I did the report yesterday, it snowed really hard for a couple of hours and by the time the lifts opened we had accumulated 8 cm of snow.  It mixed in well with the base and there were some great turns to be had out there. There was another couple of centimetres during the day and the temperature dropped to leave us with a skim of very light dry snow on the surface. The current temp is minus 7 and we are heading for a top of minus 3. With the stiff southerly blowing the wind chill is a very chilly minus 16, so rug up.

The groomers should be in good shape this morning, but the base off piste may be a little firmer underfoot than yesterday. The southerly only feels moderate in the village but it may be blowing us back up hill on Imagine until it eases this afternoon.

Enjoy. Cheers Bill.
